NADA, the Northern Arabic Dance Association, offers YOU the opportunity to
be part of an exciting dance network. Find out what's on in your area, meet
like minded dancers and have your news and views published in NADA's
magazine if you wish.
Arabic Dance (sometimes known as Raqs Sharqi, oriental dance or bellydance)
is a beautiful ancient art form which gives expression to female strength
and sensuality. It is popular worldwide and appeals to women from a variety
of cultural backgrounds. Traditionally learned within the family and
performed at weddings and social gatherings in the Middle East the dance has
become increasingly popular in the West as an effective and enjoyable
exercise accessible to women of all ages, shapes and sizes.
NADA aims to explore all aspects of the dance and all levels from beginners
to professional dancers. The organisation evolved as a network of women
interested in Middle Eastern dance. It was originally formed by dancers in
the North of England and Scotland but now has members from all over the
world.
NADA aims to:
Promote links with existing national and international Middle Eastern dance associations
Provide a regular magazine for its members including information on events and classes
To liaise with existing teacher training facilities nationally and to support the training of teachers
To set up special teaching and performance events with national and international guest teachers and performers
To provide opportunities for women to meet and dance together
To promote Middle Eastern dance specifically in the North of England and Scotland
